Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions our customers ask.
What kind of finish does the cork-spray system provide?
You’ll get a beautiful textured finish with a subtle, natural look. Because of the cork granules, it’s not completely smooth like fresh plaster — it has a gentle, characterful texture that really enhances your property’s appearance.
Can you apply it over existing render?
Yes — as long as your current render is solid and well-bonded. If there are any loose or “blown” areas, we’ll take care of those first so the surface is stable and ready for the new coating.
What about pebble-dash or roughcast surfaces?
Definitely. We can apply the cork system directly over pebble dash or roughcast. If you’d like a smoother finish, we can first apply a base coat to even things out before spraying.
Can it be applied to brickwork?
Yes, it adheres really well to brickwork that’s clean and stable. Mortar joints may still show slightly because of the surface texture, but we’ll talk you through what to expect before we start.
Who carries out the application?
All work is carried out personally by our small, family-run team — a father-and-son business with years of hands-on plastering and rendering experience. When you choose us, you deal directly with the people doing the work from start to finish.
How much does it cost?
Costs vary depending on the wall area, surface condition, and access. We offer free, no-obligation quotes — we’ll visit your property, assess what’s needed, and give you a clear price with no hidden extras.
What is the thermal performance (U-value) like?
The cork coating offers excellent thermal properties, helping to improve comfort and reduce heat loss. It has a Lambda value of around 0.058 W/mK, and the exact performance depends on your wall structure.
Where in the UK do you work?
We’re based in Braintree, Essex, and we cover surrounding areas across Essex and nearby counties. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, just get in touch and we’ll let you know.
How do I choose you as my applicator?
Simply reach out through our contact form or give us a call. We’ll arrange a convenient time to visit, show you colour samples, discuss your goals, and provide a free written quote.
What colours are available?
There’s a wide range of 28 standard fade-resistant shades to choose from, along with over 1,800 custom colours available for larger or bespoke projects. We’ll also bring sample boards and colour charts to your quote visit so you can see the textures and tones in person.
Is it suitable for coastal properties?
Yes — cork coatings naturally resist sea salt and algae, making them ideal for coastal homes. Proper surface preparation is key, which we’ll handle as part of the job.
What about maintenance?
It’s very low-maintenance. A gentle wash down once a year keeps it looking great, and light jet washing is fine at low pressure. Like any exterior finish, an occasional clean helps preserve the look.
What's the warranty?
You’ll receive a 25-year product warranty on the coating itself. As a trusted family business, we also guarantee our workmanship for your peace of mind.
Can I order a sample?
Yes — we can show you sample boards and colour charts during your quote visit so you can see and feel the finish before deciding.
Is it possible to paint over the system later?
It can be painted, but we don’t recommend it. Painting may reduce breathability and affect fire resistance. We’ll always help you choose a colour you’ll be happy with long-term.
Can it be used internally as well as externally?
Yes. It’s ideal both inside and out — especially in heritage buildings or homes with condensation issues. It adds warmth, comfort, and a natural look indoors too.
What does the installation process involve?
We start with a clean, dry surface, carry out any prep work, then apply the cork-spray coating evenly for a professional finish. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way so you know what to expect.
